NAVAJO RUGS IN THE CHIEF STYLE
Modern Chief rugs are based on copies of Chief rugs made around the turn of the century. The main colors are white, black, red, and blue. Some Chief rugs have all of these colors, others only some of them. First phase Chief rugs are horizontally banded using simple stripes. In the second phase, you will start to see a little more pattern injected into the bands. Third phase rugs are still a horizontally banded rug, but a diamond pattern is inserted in the center of the rug. Half diamonds of the same pattern are placed on each side of the rug and quarter diamonds are placed in the corners.
